Apprentice slater
Full time, 4-year program $24 to $31 per hour (sample)
Learn slate cutting, punching, hooking and copper flashing alongside master slaters. No roofing experience needed, just a head for heights and a steady hand.

Full time $34 to $44 per hour (sample)
Three or more years on steep-slope roofs. Clay tile, cedar or slate experience is a strong plus. OSHA 10 required.

Brake forming, soldering and installing copper gutters, flashing and flat-seam roofs in our shop and on site.

Preservation project coordinator
Full time, office and field $68,000 to $82,000 per year (sample)
Prepare commission applications, material samples and schedules. Background in historic preservation or construction administration preferred.
A day on the crew
The yard opens at 6:30. Crews load, review the day's plan with the foreman and are on site by 7:30. Lunch is at noon, the site is swept and tarped by 3:30, and the foreman sends photos to the homeowner before heading home.
