Walter Kowalczyk
Mansards, turrets and reclaimed slate matching
Walter apprenticed under the founder's son and has laid slate on more than 900 Boston roofs. He still sorts every pallet of reclaimed slate in the yard by hand.

Copper shop lead, with us since 1997
Joaquim Duarte
Built-in gutters, conductor heads, flat-seam copper
Joaquim runs the Dorchester sheet metal shop. He can replicate a copper profile from a single salvaged piece and has trained eleven apprentices.

Mateo Silva
Replacements, staging and neighbor coordination
Mateo runs our largest crew and plans every scaffold and street permit. Homeowners know him for his daily photo updates and very clean job sites.

Manuel Reyes
Clay tile, cedar and complex valleys
Manuel is the person we send when a roof has fourteen valleys and an eyebrow dormer. He keeps our reclaimed clay tile inventory organized by profile.

Storm crew lead, with us since 2012
Brendan Doyle
Emergency tarping, leak tracing, storm documentation
Brendan leads the storm crew and has met hundreds of insurance adjusters on Boston rooftops. His damage scopes are known for being precise.

Apprentice slater, with us since 2022
Arjun Pillai
Slate cutting, hole punching and flashing prep
Arjun joined through our four-year apprenticeship after two summers on the ground crew. He cut and punched most of the slate for the Louisburg Square project.

A four-year apprenticeship
Apprentices spend their first year on the ground crew and in the copper shop, then move to the roof under a master slater. By year four they can survey, cut, punch and hook slate, and solder a copper valley.
